Anya Truskolaska - Contemporary Abstract Artist from Gdansk (Poland)

Anna Truskolaska (ANYA) is an independent contemporary painter born in 1984 in Gdańsk, Northern Poland, whose artistic journey bridges diverse cultural and geographical landscapes. She recently moved to Italy and now resides in the picturesque Ligurian Riviera di Levante, right at the doorstep of Cinque Terre, a region celebrated for its breathtaking coastal views, charming, colorful villages, and rich cultural heritage. With a broad academic background—including Art History and French studies at the University of Aberdeen, as well as International Studies: Language and Culture at the University of Greenwich in London—Anya skillfully merges her extensive international experience and creative vision into each piece she creates.

Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries across Poland, including Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia, and Warsaw, as well as in Genoa, Italy. Anya’s art can be found in private collections throughout Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Poland, and the USA, demonstrating her broad appeal and cross-cultural relevance.

In 2017, Anya expanded her artistic practice by co-founding LIVE ART by Anya&Davide alongside her husband, Italian artist Davide Canepa. This innovative project captures the essence of abstract expressionism by translating energy and improvisation directly onto the canvas during live performances at private and public events. Their dynamic collaboration offers audiences a rare glimpse into the creative process, where spontaneity and emotion take center stage, making every event a unique celebration of art in motion.

Anya's paintings oscillate between magic and reality, between abstraction and representational art. Colour serves as the most important and powerful element in her work - intense, energetic hues are carefully chosen to stimulate the senses and imagination of the viewers, encourage them to travel deep into their own subconscious. The main theme of her works is the mysticism of existence - from the roots of human nature, through its duality and contradiction, to the transience of our earthly experience and the inseparable relationship of man with the cosmos.

Both in her painting and in life, the artist emphasises the importance of individualism and finding your own way in a world full of conformism.
