Anya Truskolaska - Contemporary Abstract Artist from Gdansk (Poland)

Anna Truskolaska (ANYA) is an independent contemporary painter born in 1984 in Gdańsk. She splits her life between Poland and Italy. She studied Art History and French at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and International Studies: Language and Culture at the University of Greenwich in London (2009). She took part in numerous exhibitions of contemporary art in Genoa and surroundings.

Her paintings are in private art collections in Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, Germany and Poland. She regularly exhibits her works in Gdansk and Warsaw.

In 2017, she co-founded LIVE ART by Anya&Davide project, where she paints live during private and public events with her husband, the Italian artist Davide Canepa.

Their performance, referring to abstract expressionism, is based on giving form to energy and improvisation.

Anya's paintings oscillate between magic and reality, between abstraction and representational art. Colour is their most important element - intense, energetic hues are meant to stimulate the senses and imagination of the viewers, encourage them to travel deep into their own subconscious. The main theme of her works is the mysticism of existence - from the roots of human nature, through its duality and contradiction, to the transience of our earthly experience and the inseparable relationship of man with the cosmos.

Both in her painting and in life, the artist emphasises the importance of individualism and finding your own way in a world full of conformism.
